Cave Stream Reflection

Why does the water have to be so cold, I mean it's like being in a freezer for forty-five minutes to an hour and a half (with about three five minute breaks). Cave stream, the cave with cold water, was one of my highlights for the start of the year 2017 (my favourite trip had to be wellington). It was a warm summer's day and we were about to go caving (I'll skip the boring bits) I got into my wetsuit and had a snack while I waited for Mr S-W to lead us down to the cave.

Eventually, we headed down to the entrance of the cave. Mr S-W gave us a safety briefing and then we headed into the icy water of cave stream, following behind me was ollie, Konnah and Quinn. But ollie, Konnah and Me got distracted by some side caves and then we ended up at the end of the group (we eventually made it to the front).

As we came to a stop at the way out, I was the first one up the ladder. One of the parents said that I could have a swim in the freezing river so I did as I waited for some of my friends to come up. Also, the rocks in the river were very slimy and I slipped and got freezing water down my back. Then we had a twenty-minute play in the river and headed up to the car to get changed and go.

My experience with cave stream was phenomenal (more like phenomenally freezing). My message to the people that go to cave stream: bring the right gear like a wetsuit, headtorch and spare batteries, last but not least, your family! Have fun down in the cold water guys!
